Creating a financial environment in which Councils can respond to the challenges of sustainable development and climate change is becoming fundamental.

Sustainable Scotland Network's Annual Conference, "Accounting for Sustainable Development", was held on 13th and 14th November 2008 and focused on the key issues of sustainable economic growth, carbon accounting and sustainable procurement.

Over 170 delegates from sustainable development, finance and procurement backgrounds came together at the SSN Conference. The two-day event provided a valuable opportunity for participants to hear directly from leading experts and to attend seminars that aimed to equip them with the tools and knowledge to tackle the challenge of climate change and to use financial mechanisms to put their organisations on the road to sustainable development.
