Scotland - Wider Public Sector
- COSLA, the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, is the representative voice of Scottish local government and also acts as the employer's association on behalf of all Scottish councils.
- The Improvement Service was set up to support improvement in the efficiency, quality and accountability of public services in Scotland.
- Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is Scotland's environmental regulator.
- The Forestry Commission Scotland serves as the forestry directorate of the Scottish Government, advising on and implementing forestry policy and managing the national forest estate.
- Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) is a Scottish Government body with a remit to look after Scotland's natural heritage, to help people to enjoy and value it, and to encourage people to use it sustainably.
- Scottish Enterprise is Scotland's main economic, enterprise, innovation and investment agency.
- Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is the Scottish Government's economic and community development agency for that region. Their website also contains HIE's sustainable development webpages
Scotland - Sustainable Development Organisations
- Keep Scotland Beautiful is an environmental charity. KSB co-ordinates a number of programmes including: Eco Schools Scotland, Going Carbon Neutral Stirling and the Climate Challenge Fund
- WWF Scotland is dedicated to finding solutions to a broad range of pressing environmental problems, all of which affect Scotland.
- Friends of the Earth Scotland campaigns for solutions to environmental problems.
- Adaptation Scotland aims to "increase the resilience of organisations and infrastructure in Scotland to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by the impacts of climate change".
- SNIFFER (Scotland & Northern Ireland Forum for Environmental Research) provides a service to members and partners to manage and deliver knowledge relating to the environment and quality of life.
- The Scottish Fair Trade Forum was established in 2007 to take forward Scotland's work to become one of the world's first Fair Trade Nations.
- The Sustainable Development Education Network is the Scottish network for organisations and individuals involved in sustainable development education.
- The Scottish Bio-Diversity Forum is an umbrella group or partnership of anyone with an interest in biodiversity.
- The Scottish Environmental Technology Network (SETN) aims to improve the competitiveness of Scottish SMEs in the environmental sector.
UK - Government & Sustainable Development Organisations
- Defra's Sustainable Development in Government webpages.
- The Committee on Climate Change advises the UK Government and devolved administrations on setting and meeting carbon budgets and on preparing for the impacts of climate change.
- Local Government Improvement and Development works for local government improvement in England and Wales. It is owned by the Local Government Association and belongs to local government.
- The Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) has teams of policy analysts who provide expertise across the spectrum of the local government agenda. Their work includes policy briefings, seminars and conferences, training and learning, consultancy, campaigning and public affairs.
- The Carbon Trust provides specialist support to business and the public sector to help cut carbon emissions, save energy and commercialise low carbon technologies.
- The New Economics Foundation (NEF) works to construct a new economy centered on people and the environment - using techniques such as social and environmental auditing.
- The Fairtrade Foundation is the independent non-profit organisation that licenses use of the FAIRTRADE Mark on products in the UK in accordance with internationally agreed Fairtrade standards.
- Friends Of the Earth UK campaigns for solutions to environmental problems.
- Greenpeace investigates, exposes and confronts environmental abuse by governments and corporations around the world.

- People and Planet is the largest, student network in Britain campaigning to end world poverty, defend human rights and protect the environment.
- The Soil Association promotes planet-friendly food and farming through education, campaigns and community programmes.
- Sustain: The alliance for better food and farming advocates food and agriculture policies and practices that enhance the health and welfare of people and animals, improve the working and living environment, enrich society and culture and promote equity.
- The WDM: World Development Movement tackles the underlying causes of poverty.
Europe
- ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability is an international association of local governments as well as national and regional local government organizations that have made a commitment to sustainable development
- The European Environment Agency (EEA) is an agency of the European Union. The EEA provides independent information on the environment, and information for those involved in developing, adopting, implementing and evaluating environmental policy.

- Scotland Europa is a membership-based organisation that promotes Scotland's interests across the institutions of the European Union and to the representatives of Europe's regions and Member States.
